The Italian Greyhound can switch from couch potato to fast, agile athlete in an instant. While they enjoy running around your home they MUST have regular opportunities to vent their energy through all-out galloping. They prefer to exercise in short bursts, tearing around the yard. Remember, the Italian Greyhound is a sight hound, and will instinctively take off after anything that catches their eye. Therefore, a fenced yard or proper collar and leash is required. The personality of an Italian Greyhound is unlike any other breed. IG’s are very much "people dogs". They are bright, imaginative, full of fun and spirit, and are passionately devoted to their humans. Italian Greyhounds have an affectionate disposition, and love it best when their owners return the affection. Iggies are alert, sensitive, very intelligent and very playful until well into adulthood. The IG adapts quickly to most households, and gets along well with other pets and children. They always want to please, and learn very quickly. However, they are emotionally sensitive and can literally end up sick to their stomachs if people in their home are having family problems. IG’s are a peaceful, sensitive breed who need a harmonious home. Although initially a little reserved around strangers, they are devoted to family and thoroughly enjoy their role as a pampered pet. Give them love, patience and a warm bed to snuggle in and you will have a lifetime friend! |

About Us |
|
We are a family of four + our beautiful pets. We have two Italian Greyhounds (Iggies), a Chihuahua & a Shih Tzu. We only breed Italian Greyhounds to share the wonderful experience of having this loving companion pet with others. I am a former registered veterinary technician, responsible breeder and do not breed for profit. Juliet is our family pet - not an income. We socialize all puppies & our two daughters guarantee your puppy will be spoiled. They are raised in our home with care. We truly love our pets and hope you will, too! Romeo & Juliet are quite a pair! They provide hours of entertainment and are lighting fast…but they both are cuddle bugs and love attention! Our Italian Greyhound puppies are APRI registered and come with a health guarantee. Please review our contract and email me with any questions. Contact information below...
About the Italian Greyhound breed: The Italian Greyhound is considered a good companion dog. They are very affectionate and adapt well to most environments due to their disposition, size and intelligence. Italian Greyhounds are sight hounds in miniature. In appearance they closely resemble Greyhounds but are much smaller in all proportions. IG’s usually range from 13 to 15 inches in height but 16 to 19 inches is not uncommon. They have a light footed grace and high stepping gate. Weight can range from seven to fifteen pounds with ten pounds being the average. Italian Greyhounds can be expected to live for 13 to 17 years and are generally very healthy. The fur of the Italian Greyhound is very soft, sleek and short. IG's are the only breed that are considered completely odorless. Because IG’s shed very little they may be suitable for someone with allergies. Because of short hair and low body weight, IG's are uncomfortable in extremely cold weather conditions. The Italian Greyhound is NOT an outdoor dog. It is very hard, if not impossible, to convince an Italian Greyhound to go outside in extremely cold, wet, or very windy conditions. Some owners get around bad weather by using potty pads or an indoor litter box . Like cats, IG’s CAN be trained to this. The IG litter box is larger than a cat's and is usually lined with newspaper. It works like a charm and these dogs train to litter boxes relatively easily. The key to successful housebreaking, however, is: consistency, willingness to work over an extended time frame, and patience. |
